There are two churches in Oviken. The newer gothic church is known for its impressive acoustics. The old church is one of the oldest ones in Jämtland.
	The octagonal church in Vemdalen is also an impressing witness of history. To enter it, you must open the door with the big key which is always hanging next to the entrance and which is just as old as the church itself.
	The church on Frösön originates from the 12th century, the time of the christianisation. It was built on a heathenish victim place which is proved by the fact that during a restoration in the 1980ies remains of bears, moose and goats were found. From here you have a beautiful view over the surrounding mountains.

The historical church in Hackås is very richly decorated with wall paintings from the 13th and 17th centuries. The painted and gilded carvings of this medieval apse church date from the 18th century.
